Why do we need to be concerned about security?
There are people out there with malicious intent. This is a fact and this cannot be changed, because of the evil side of human nature.
However, just as we can lock our front doors and use such methods as alarm systems, to prevent those people, who covert others possessions, from taking our stuff, so we can lock our web-sites.
Of course, this is no guarantee of immunity from attack, but it is the most sensible course to take to help to prevent this happening.
How do we secure our web presence?
There are a number of actions that can be taken to lock down the site and prevent untoward activities, whilst retaining the public availability of those parts of the site that are intended to be public. This may include the ability for registered users to edit or add content to the site.
The details of these actions are too complex to go into here, but more information about securing e.g. Joomla installations may be found here: Joomla security FAQ. and here: Security checklist.
We give no guarantees, but we do everything in our power.
Although any web development expert will say that there is no such thing as a 100% secure system, we always undertake, with every site we build, to pay attention to all the known security vulnerablities in any system we use and to implementing their solutions, wherever possible.
Constant vigilance.
Attention must always be given to any site that is implemented with technologies in which a new vulnerability is discovered and must be upgraded in the event. Therefore, security concerns are also a part of the after-launch maintenance programme, which we offer.
